Who Regulates My Food Product?

There are many agencies that have jurisdiction over the regulation of food products. There are many different factors that can influence what federal, state or local agency has jurisdiction over a specific food product. Composition, manufacturing operations and location, distribution, and sales outlets can have some bearing over which agency takes regulatory responsibility for a food product.
