Description: One of the requirements of the new Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations is the development of a food safety plan for facilities required to conduct a hazard analysis and implement preventive controls. The development and implementation of the plan is to be done under the supervision of a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI). This 20-hour training course follows the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA)standardized curriculum recognized by the FDA, and is taught by certified lead instructors. Individuals successfully completing the course will receive an official certificate from FSPCA. NOTE: This course is one way an individual can be trained to become a PCQI. This training is not required by FDA.   This course will be held in Talley Student Union from March 6-8. The cost of registration is $500, which will include all course materials (participant manual, exercise workbook, and certificate) and snacks at breaks. Lunch will not be provided; however, there are many dining options in Talley. This 2-day course will provide participants with the knowledge to implement the requirements of the “Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP) for Importers of Food for Humans and Animals” regulation of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This regulation was implement through the provisions of the 2011 Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), which focuses on safe food practices. The FSVP curriculum was designed by regulatory, academia, and industry professionals and developed with funding from FDA as part of the FSPCA.
